![]() ![]() Here are the narrative choices that tipped me off: (Little did I know that this was the genius of Don Bluth and not Disney.) As a kid, all I knew is that this cartoon movie wasn’t much like the others I’d seen. ![]() So, yes, I have watched and re-watched Don Bluth’s Oscar-winning animated film The Secret of NIMH, long before I even knew a) what NIMH* stood for and b) that it was based off of a book. (Apparently, unless I don’t have some romantic, nostalgic notions about a classic piece of literature I tend to stick with contemporary YA Lit.) Once more, I have picked up a classic because of I have fond memories of the adaptation of a story. Fortunately, she encounters the rats of NIMH, an extraordinary breed of highly intelligent creatures, who come up with a brilliant solution to her dilemma. But her youngest son, Timothy, lies ill with pneumonia and must not be moved. Frisby, a widowed mouse with four small children, must move her family to their summer quarters immediately, or face almost certain death. ![]()
